A DANGAMVURA-based gospel musician recently released a six-track debut album, Vavariro. The energetic Christian Zimano (29), whose music has a touch of sungura expressed hope that his album would be a favourite of many as it speaks about the importance of striving for righteousness in the Christian walk. “My album elaborates the significance of aiming for righteousness in the Christian life. The title track Vavariro encourages Christians to walk in righteousness and discourages criticism of one another.
Our chief aim as Christians is to live according to the precepts of God and this should not change. It is also a warning to those who are taking the gospel as a business as this is one of the many ways Christians are straying away from the aim of being Christ-like in our way of living,” said Zimano.
Some of the songs on the album are Makaitei, Ndine mhaka and Sungano newe.
Zimano started his music career in 2007 and has found himself at one point performing with the likes of Agatha Murudzwa and Michael Mahendere.
“I decided to preach to people through music because I realised that people love music and almost everyone can afford a radio so it is a tactic intended to see my message being distributed far and wide,” he said.
Zimano, however, lamented financial constraints as the major setback hindering his progress and that of many other upcoming artistes, adding that renowned musicians should come to the rescue of those who are still trying to find their way in the industry.
