US govt intentions further exposed

Certification Scheme (KPCS) gave Zimbabwe the nod to unconditionally export its diamonds from Marange fields, has laid bare the intentions of the US government.
After suffering the embarrassment last month in the Democratic Republic of Congo when KPCS gave the country the green light to unconditionally export its gemstones from Marange fields, the US has decided to hit back by placing the diamond mining companies on its sanctions list. According to a story we carried yesterday, diamond mining companies Mbada Diamonds and Marange Resources have been added to the list of companies under the US sanctions list. The two companies have, according to the latest US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) been added onto the “specially designated” updated nationals list.
Mbada Diamonds and Marange Resources are both in joint ventures with the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation (ZMDC), a state owned company. The decision to impose sanctions on the two mining companies has exposed the US government which all along has been mobilising other countries to oppose the export of Marange diamonds claiming human rights abuses when in fact the real intention was to cripple the Zimbabwean economy. When KPCS proved that the Marange diamonds were not “blood diamonds” as alleged by the US and its allies, the US discovered its plans to cripple the economy through blocking the sale of diamonds was doomed hence this latest desperate move to place the diamond mining companies on its sanctions list.
We knew it was coming because the US is determined to try all the tricks in the book to effect regime change in Zimbabwe whose prospects, unfortunately for the US government, are fast fading away. The Zimbabwean economy is fast recovering with the mining sector which the US is now targeting recording a phenomenal growth. The placing of the diamond companies on the US sanctions list should not detract the Government from its programme to turn around the economy while at the same time empowering its people through its indigenisation and economic empowerment programmes.
The Government should continue with its programmes of ensuring the people, the Americans relish to see suffering, benefit from their natural resources such as Marange diamonds. The Government and indeed the nation should take seriously the advice from the Republic of Sudan ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Elsiddieg Abdalla who said the Government should take the illegal sanctions imposed on the country as a blessing in disguise. Ambassador Abdalla said Government should use the illegal economic embargo to goad scientists and researchers to come up with home-grown solutions to challenges facing the country as opposed to mourning.
We cannot agree more with Ambassador Abdalla. Zimbabwe is, much to the chagrin of the US and its allies, endowed with an assortment of minerals and other natural resources. It also boasts of the highest literacy rate on the African continent which means it has abundant human resources. US and its European counterparts are fast running out of natural resources hence these forays on the African continent to cause destabilisation and thereafter loot resources.
Zimbabwe is obviously a thorn in the flesh for US given the fact that Marange diamonds alone have the potential to supply 25 percent of the world market.
We implore the Government and indeed the nation not to be detracted by the US government’s latest desperate moves meant to derail the march towards total economic emancipation.
