A HARARE woman took her ex-husband to court demanding US$100 maintenance for the upkeep of their two children.
Blessing Ruzivo said her ex-husband, Farai Muzuva, had been neglecting the needs of his minor children.
Presiding magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini, however, awarded Ruzivo US$30 plus school fees.
Ruzivo wanted the court to compel him to foot the bill of his children’s needs, including school fees.
“We are no longer married and he is cohabiting with someone else. He refuses to answer my calls and gives his partner to answer the phone rudely.
“He is a driver at City Parking, and he is also a mechanic.
“He earns about US$500 per month, so he can afford my demands,” she said.
But Muzuva offered US$30, saying Ruzivo was denying him access to his children.
“She took all of our property and left me alone and I decided to cohabit with someone who cares for me.
“I hardly see my kids because she doesn’t want me to visit her place of residence, but I do pay school fees for my little boys,” he said.
