PETROS Simbarashe Muchara (17), who suffered internal bleeding after colliding with an opponent during a league match, has received a timely boost towards his medical expenses.

Businessman, philanthropist, and Buffaloes FC chairman, Ruramai Nyakonga led the way with a US$500 donation on Wednesday.

Muchara had been experiencing internal bleeding after a collision with a Sporting Athletics player, resulting in a serious injury.

He was subsequently admitted at the Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital Intensive Care Unit, where he awaits surgery to drain the clotted blood.

His mother, Agnes Mwashita expressed gratitude at the gesture.

“I am truly humbled by this act of kindness. Initially, I had considered discouraging my son from playing football again, but this gesture has changed my mind. I am deeply touched and sincerely appreciate what the owner of Socco Golden Stars has done for my son,” she said.

Nyakonga, known for his humility, added: “I firmly believe that charitable deeds should be done without seeking recognition. My motivation for helping Petros stems from my own experiences when my child was injured playing rugby, as well as my genuine love as a parent. That is all there is to it.”

In a request for medical assistance on behalf of Petros, the Mutare District Junior Soccer League submitted a letter, which read: “I am writing on behalf of the Mutare District Junior Soccer League seeking medical assistance for a 17-year-old Petros Simbarashe Muchara, a junior player with Mutare United Juniors from Sakubva Mutare, who sustained an injury during Mutare District Junior Soccer League match against Sporting Athletics.

“We are seeking your assistance with financial, follow-up care, physical therapy and imaging tests. The injury is affecting Petros’ ability to breathe and to wake up. We believe he requires urgent treatment, detailed assessment, referral to a specialist to fully recover and be able to continue playing.”

Those willing to further assist can contact his parents on 0772684149 or Mutare District Junior Soccer League 0783410359/0775200011.
