ZIMBABWEAN professional golfers Scott and Kieran Vincent managed to make the cut in the US$1.5 million International Series Singapore in Tampines Course at Tanah Merah Country Club.
Kieran, making his Asian Tour debut, managed to remain composed as he finished tied on position 22 with rounds of 68, 70, 71 and 70 for a total 279 while Scott, who started brilliantly, taking the opening day clubhouse lead, faltered on the last day when he carded a five over 77 to finish on three-under overall.
For their efforts Kieran pocketed US$14 000 while Scott walked home US$5 175 richer.
Kieran was playing his third professional tourney after playing his two opening matches in the Canadian Tour where he had made a single cut and missed the other.
The tournament saw Scott remain number one on the International Series order of merit but moved from fourth to seventh on the Asian Tour order of merit.
Scott has played three tournaments on the International Series Tour earning US$388 912.50.
The Vicent siblings are expected to shift focus to this week’s International Tour Series Korea from Thursday through to Sunday.
International Series Singapore was delayed on the final day because of bad weather, the round which Scott experienced some challenges.
The tournament was won by Nitithorn Thippong who triumphed in his inaugural International Series.
After holing a brilliant pressure-packed 15-foot par saving putt on the par-five 18th to take the clubhouse lead on 16 under, Nitithorn, playing in the penultimate group, then had to wait and see if anyone in the last group consisting of Malaysian Gavin Green, Chinese-Taipei’s Chan Shih-chang and Phachara Khongwatmai from Thailand could catch him. It proved to be a much longer wait then expected as the last group were forced off the 18th hole for 40 minutes because of lightning, with Chan on 16 under and Green one back.
Meanwhile, South African Rick Handler maintained his opening day lead to win the National Aids Council Pro-Am at Royal Harare last Friday. Handler who went into the final day leading second placed Robson Chinhoi and Bradley Kulaisi by eight shots played casually on the final round to pocket US$7 500.
