RISING local visual artist Asa King Zvihari’s evocative painting, “My Last Days,” has been valued at an impressive US$240 000 ahead of its highly anticipated auction in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on a date to be announced.

The artwork, celebrated for its profound exploration of human emotions — ranging from tragedy and mortality to ecstasy and doom — has already captivated collectors and critics alike, with many predicting its final sale price could soar even higher.

Zvihari, a past winner of the prestigious African Art Competition, has long been revered for his ability to weave raw emotion into his creations.

His unique style, influenced by the Old Masters — particularly Vincent van Gogh’s “At Eternity’s Gate” — shines through in “My Last Days.”

The painting’s title hints at an existential reckoning, a theme that resonates deeply with audiences worldwide.

Art historians note that Zvihari’s work transcends cultural boundaries, tapping into universal human experiences that leave viewers moved, often to tears.

The announcement of the auction has sparked a frenzy among art collectors and enthusiasts. “This painting is more than just a work of art — it’s an experience,” remarked Zvihari.“I’m glad art enthusiasts and those who did its valuation have realised its worth. This is something huge for an artist starting to make his mark in a world already dominated by very talented painters.”

The sale is expected to draw competitive bidding, potentially driving the final price well beyond its current valuation. Zvihari’s journey to international acclaim has been marked by exhibitions at prestigious venues across the UAE, including the Renaissance Business Bay Hotel and Le Méridien Hotel in Dubai.

These showcases not only highlighted his distinctive style but also solidified his reputation as one of Africa’s most talented contemporary artists. Now, with “My Last Days” poised to join a prestigious private collection, the art world eagerly awaits his next creation.

As the auction date approaches, “My Last Days” stands as a testament to the enduring power of art to evoke emotion and connect people across cultures.

Whether it fetches its estimated value or surpasses all expectations, one thing is certain: Asa King Zvihari’s masterpiece has already left an indelible mark on the global art scene.

Zvihari joins the elite league of visual artists who are making waves on the international stage.

Visual art encompasses various mediums, including painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, installation, and digital arts, all of which appeal to the visual senses. Zimbabwe has been a fertile ground for visual artists, producing remarkable works that resonate deeply with audiences both locally and internationally.

The distinctiveness and authenticity of Zimbabwean art have attracted international buyers eager to acquire these captivating collections.
