Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga has arrived in Murewa for the 2024 SADC Malaria Day regional commemorations and launch of ‘Zimbabwe Zero Malaria Starts With Me’ campaign.

The SADC Malaria Day is an important fixture which brings together the region’s Ministries of Health, leaders, policymakers, healthcare professionals, and community representatives to chart ways of eliminating malaria in the region.

This year’s commemorations are running under the theme “Resilient Health Systems and Communities: Key to Malaria Elimination.”

VP Chiwenga was welcomed by Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Aplonia Munzverengi, Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Douglas Mombeshora, his regional counterparts, several other regional health leaders among other senior Government officials.

Leading health sector stakeholders from across the region converged in Harare this week, under the auspices of the SADC Ministers of Health conference, to chart ways on maximising universal health coverage across the region.

The Ministers deliberated on public health issues aimed at contributing to the attainment of improved quality of life of the people in the region and reviewed the State of health in the SADC region.
