VP Chiwenga leads Regional Construction Summit in Victoria Falls

Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga is in Victoria Falls where he is expected to interact and address delegates to the inaugural Regional Construction Summit.

The three-day summit which ends tomorrow (Friday) seeks to promote collaboration, share knowledge, and identify growth opportunities in the region.

The summit is running under the theme “Leveraging investment in infrastructure as a catalyst for economic growth”.

It comes at a time when Zimbabwe has been seeking to attract global investors in infrastructure development and development of smart cities as part of the vision 2030 with the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1).

The economic blueprint identifies infrastructure as a key enabler to economic development.

Local Government and Public Works Minister Daniel Garwe, Matabeleland North Provincial Minister Richard Moyo, regional representatives and several stakeholders in the construction industry are in attendance.

According to the programme, Zimbabwe Building Contractors Association president, Dr Tinashe Manzungu is expected to guve insights into the state of the construction Industry.

The role of infrastructure in cconomic development, infrastructure investment strategies and role of pension funds in infrastructural development would also come under the spotlight.
