VICE-President Kembo Mohadi yesterday commissioned the Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa Clinic in Chirape Village in Gokwe North in one of the major milestones in ensuring access to quality health care for all.

The clinic with modern facilities was constructed in honour of the First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa’s philanthropic works, which cuts across the breath and width of the country.

The First Lady’s works as the country’s health ambassador have not gone unnoticed with the naming of the clinic after her illuminating her selfless works that have also seen her getting international recognition in various fora.

This new clinic will serve as a vital healthcare hub, offering accessible medical care to the people of Chirape and surrounding areas. The facility was constructed by Kadoma-based businessman, Cde Jimaya Muduvuri, chairman of Muduvuri Pan African Referral Hospitals.

Already Cde Muduvuri has constructed a clinic in Chivi District in Masvingo province, and Simon Muzenda Clinic in Gokwe South while the Dr Joshua Nkomo Clinic is under construction in Gwanda, as well as the Robert Mugabe Clinic in Zvimba, among other health centres.

VP Mohadi, who was also celebrating his 75th birthday, said the construction of the clinic by a local businessman is in line with the Second Republic’s philosophy: “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo/Ilizwe lakhiwa labaninilo”.

“The commissioning of this facility is in honour of our First Lady’s philanthropic works. We hope the clinic can be upgraded to a district hospital and become a referral centre,” he said.

“This beautiful, very beautiful clinic has been built by one of our own under the Pan African Group of Referral Hospitals, VaJimaya Muduvuri whose first hospital was commissioned by President Mnangagwa on 14 April 2023 in Kadoma District, Mashonaland West Province.”

VP Mohadi said he had the honour to commission the ED Mnangagwa Clinic in Shokoni, Chivi District, Masvingo Province in September.

“Today we are gathered to celebrate the opening of yet another clinic here at Chirape in Nembudziya, Gokwe North District of the Midlands Province,” he said.

VP Mohadi said such endeavours are commendable, adding that other people and corporates can build such clinics across the country. He said the Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa Clinic will give preference of its services to disadvantaged groups such as women, children, war veterans and those with disabilities of one kind or the other.

“The project we are witnessing today is partly a result of some of the personal experiences of Cde Muduvuri when he was involved in a terrible accident in the year 2006. It is from this personal encounter that he thought of building hospitals and clinics throughout the country,” he said.

“Allow me to share with you something he told me in confidence, that his next port of call is Beitbridge, my hometown.”

VP Mohadi impressed upon healthcare professionals at the new clinic to be compassionate and embrace integrity to reflect on the person bearing the name of the clinic.

Narrating his story and construction of health centres across the country, Cde Muduvuri said he had a life-changing experience when he was involved in a road traffic accident that nearly left him amputated on both legs.

“I had an accident and I was about to get amputated, my legs had no power. President Mnangagwa and the First Lady heard about my demise and I remember them visiting me. They both touched my feet and the First Lady showed so much compassion,” he said.

Cde Muduvuri said the First Family assisted financially so that he could go to South Africa for specialised treatment.

“When I was in South Africa, the money I had been given was exhausted and I called them and they came through for me. So, from 2006 I always wanted to reciprocate what they did for me,” he said.

Cde Muduvuri said when he got better and was up on his feet, he booked an appointment with the President intending to pay back the financial assistance.

“President Mnangagwa ordered me out of his office saying they had just assisted me. So, with that money I thought of building health centres as a way of paying them back for their generosity,” he said.

Chief Chireya commended Cde Muduvuri for constructing the clinic for the community saying the development buttresses Vision 2030.

“Government is advocating for rural development and Cde Muduvuri is complementing the Government efforts. He was injured while driving a truck that was ferrying food aid for our people,” he said.

“At the same time we need to thank the President and Amai Mnangagwa for their development-centred approach because we now have this clinic because of them.”
