Vice President Dr Kembo Mohadi convened a high‑level meeting this Wednesday with ministers and deputy ministers from the social services cluster, which falls under his purview.
The meeting was held at the Munhumutapa Building in Harare.

The cluster comprises the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training; the Ministry of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture; the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education; the Ministry of National Housing and Social Amenities; the Ministry of Information,
Communication, Technology, Postal and Courier Services; the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage; the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works; the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology; the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare; and the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development.

In his address, VP Mohadi said: “As we gather here today, I want to extend a warm welcome to you all — Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and representatives from various agencies within the social sector cluster and cross‑cutting ministries.
“We last met during the first quarter of 2024 and we were supposed to meet every quarter thereafter. Unfortunately, this has not been possible due to circumstances beyond our control. We hope our sector meetings will be more frequent going forward.”
He said the meeting comes hard on the heels of the 2026 Performance Contracts signing and the 2025 Performance Awards ceremony, conducted on 16 March 2026 and presided over by President Mnangagwa, where outstanding contributions to the nation’s vision were recognised.

“They really showcased how individual and collective efforts can contribute to broader social sector objectives, while at the same time underscoring the Government’s focus on improving social and economic service outcomes. His Excellency the President urged us all to recommit ourselves fully to the transformation of the livelihoods of all Zimbabweans.

“As we convene today, I want to highlight from the onset that we have just concluded National Development Strategy (NDS) 1 and are transitioning into NDS 2, which is the final leg towards the attainment of Vision 2030. The social services sector is, therefore, crucial for any nation’s progress; hence, we should align our priorities and goals for 2026 and beyond. We should work together as a formidable team towards the accelerated attainment of our national vision,” VP Mohadi said.
