VP Mujuru leaves for Seychelles

Vice President Joice Mujuru left Zimbabwe yesterday for The Seychelles to join other world leaders for the Carnaval International de Victoria.
The Carnaval International de Victoria, a tourism festival, will be officially opened by Seychelles President James Michel tomorrow.
VP Mujuru is expected to hold talks with President Michel.
Accompanying VP Mujuru are Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Walter Mzembi, Secretary in her office Mr Munesu Munodawafa, and Zimbabwe Tourism Authority chief executive officer Mr Karikoga Kaseke.
Tourism and Hospitality Industry Secretary Dr Sylvester Maunganidze – the chairman of the Regional Tourism Organisation of Southern Africa – is already in The Seychelles.
Yesterday Mr Munodawafa said Sadc would use the occasion to showcase its tourism potential.
“While the focus is on Seychelles, Sadc wants to use the occasion to showcase its tourism potential as the occasion draws tourists from all over the world,” he said.
Mr Kaseke said the festival was of great significance to Zimbabwe.
“There are a lot of other countries from all over the world coming to Seychelles for the carnival.
“We want to showcase our new tourism brand the ‘World of Wonders’.
“We also want to learn one or two issues as we intend to hold a similar event in Victoria Falls next year between January and February,” he said.
President Michel has declared Friday a public holiday in The Seychelles.
He will officially open the festival in the capital, Victoria, in front of the Clock Tower, a landmark monument.
Apart from Zimbabwe, several other countries from the Sadc region including South Africa and Tanzania are also attending the carnival.
