VP Nkomo bids Chinese ambassador Xin farewell

Vice Presi­dent John Landa Nkomo at his Munhumutapa Offices to bid him farewell after spending over two years in the country.
Ambassador Xin was accompanied by his wife Lua Xian Min.

In an interview after the meeting with VP Nkomo the Chinese ambassa­dor said he was saddened to leave Zimbabwe.

“I feel very sad that I am going to be leaving your country after staying for  two years and 10 months.
“My stay here left me with unforget­table experiences and during this period the bilateral relations between China and Zimbabwe flourished with a number of high level visits while var­ious economic agreements were reached,” Ambassador Xin said.

He said China had assisted Zim­babwe in various sectors that included education, health and food aid.
“We built two schools and we are also going to build another two and sink boreholes,” he said.
He said he had initiated various projects that he hoped will be com­pleted by the new ambassador.

These include the construction of a power station and the new Parliament building. Ambassador Xin thanked the Zimbabwe Government and its people for the hospitality during his stay.
“I want to thank the Zimbabwe peo­ple and Zimbabwe Government for giving us strong assistance, I want to thank you again . . . makaita basa, I will never forget my stay,” he said.

During his stay in Zimbabwe he received two prizes for being the best diplomat from Asian countries accred­ited to Zimbabwe and the best diplo­mat for all countries represented in the country.

He said he is going to be posted to another country in the Sadc region.
