WANGU MAZODZE WILTING

WANGU Mazodze, who were once comfortably perched at the top of the ZIFA Eastern Region Division One standings, now find themselves clinging to a fragile lead after a stunning 0-2 defeat at the hands of Hunters.

The loss has ignited a fierce battle for promotion into the Premier Soccer League, with every match now a high-stakes showdown for the top three sides.

Wangu Mazodze’s lead over second-placed Tenax FC has been trimmed down to two points.

Tenax powered to a dominant 3-0 victory against Chiredzi Stars at home.

Triangle have been impressive since the appointment of Luke Masomere as their head coach. In August, they were 16 points behind pacesetters Wangu Mazodze and, after their commanding 4-1 win against Surrey at Gibbo on Sunday, they are now just two points behind second placed Tenax.

The landscape has shifted dramatically, and the stakes couldn’t be any higher with only four matches remaining.
