MISS Universe Zimbabwe Brooke Bruk-Jackson received a warm welcome on her return home yesterday from the Miss Universe pageant in El Salvador.
She said she needs to take a pause, after a week of intense activities in which she mixed up with some of the most beautiful women in the world, before she engages in anything.
Her dream now is to be an ambassador of social change.
BBJ said she had a good time in El Salvador and relished her chance for the opportunity to put the country on the tourism map.
The 21-year-old was welcomed home by a group of people led by Zimbabwe Tourism Authority chief executive, Winnie Muchanyuka, who was representing Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister, Barbara Rwodzi.
“I think I need to find my feet a little bit but ,definitely, it’s been a whirlwind of emotions,” said BBJ.
“I am going to fulfil my duties for this year and, hopefully, beyond.
“I am going to keep working with the informal sector and keep doing my best to help social change.
“I want to be an ambassador of social change.”
She added:
“It actually was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
“My goal was to put Zimbabwe back on the map and, you know, I think just being there and being present put us back on the map.
“Everybody knows about Zimbabwe and I can tell you that for a fact.
“I got into the top 10 Voice for Change which was one of the challenging parts of the competition.”
Muchanyuka said she was proud of what BBJ did and hopes that she can promote some of the products and carry the Zimbabwean flag wherever she is.
“She made our work so much easier.
“She had so many countries surrounding her, so many beautiful ladies from countries across the world and her message to them can only bring more visitors from the beauty pageant to Zimbabwe.
“We are so proud of you for being among the top 10 in the Voice for Change and working with the informal sector is critical for tourism because a lot of people in tourism are actually in the informal sector.
“We look forward to working with you.
“We would love for you to promote some of the products and carry the Zimbabwean flag wherever you are since people will remember you from the Miss Universe pageant.”
