The Zimbabwe national men’s football team, the Warriors, are set to lock horns with West African powerhouses Burkina Faso and Niger in a pair of international friendlies scheduled for June 2025 in Casablanca, Morocco.

The matches, set for June 6 and 10 are part of Zimbabwe’s strategic build-up to upcoming competitive fixtures, including qualifiers and major tournaments.

The announcement was made today by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) through its Media and Communications Department.

“These matches present an important opportunity for Michael Nees and his technical team to assess player readiness, test combinations and build cohesion as the team continues its journey of growth and development on the international stage,” reads the statement.

The Warriors, who have been working on re-establishing themselves as a continental force, will be keen to use these high-level encounters to finetune tactics.

Both Burkina Faso and Niger are expected to field strong sides, providing a robust challenge for Nees’ squad.

“ZIFA, in collaboration with the technical team, remains committed to ensuring that the Warriors are well-prepared to represent the nation with pride and purpose. These friendlies are part of a broader strategy to give our national team regular high-level match exposure in anticipation of upcoming qualifiers and tournaments,” the statement says.

Zimbabwean fans, still riding the emotional waves of the team’s return to international competition, will be closely monitoring the performance in Morocco as the Warriors seek to build a solid foundation for future success.

The squad list for the tour is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
