BUSINESS ground to a halt on Friday evening at the busy intersection of 5th Avenue and Robert Mugabe Way in Bulawayo after a vendor allegedly attempted to take his own life by climbing a tree.
Hundreds of onlookers gathered as rescue services rushed to the scene. A man, reported to be the vendor’s father, pleaded with him not to jump, while the distressed individual shouted that he wanted to end his life.
Using a ladder from a fire engine, rescuers managed to bring the man down just moments before he could jump, prompting cheers from the crowd.
The individual was immediately taken for care and is reportedly receiving medical attention.
