Bulawayo residents celebrated Heroes Day on Monday in style with a live performance from Chillmaster.
The artiste who performed at a popular spot in Luveve expressed his excitement about performing in the city for the first time.

Known for hit tracks such as Makanaka and Horror, Chillmaster kept the crowd on its feet with a high-energy set. Track after track had revellers singing and dancing along, much to the artiste’s delight. Overwhelmed by the reception, he paused mid-performance to acknowledge his fans.
“Bulawayo madadisa,” he shouted, meaning the city had made him proud.

The highlight of the night came when the audience sang Makanaka and Horror word-for-word, effectively turning the performance into a heartwarming duet between the artiste and his fans. By the time he left the stage, deafening screams confirmed he had left a lasting impression.
Welcoming him to the city was Bulawayo’s own Sandra Ndebele, who praised the platform for bringing artistes together during such a significant national celebration.
“It’s pleasing to witness talented young artistes showcase their skills to the world. As we celebrate our heroes, artistes like Chillmaster bring joy to both the living and fallen heroes, proving their efforts were not in vain.
“It’s always a pleasure to welcome performers from outside Bulawayo, making them feel at home while showcasing the unifying power of music regardless of language,” she said.
For attendees like Sihle Dube, the night was one for the history books.
“I’ve celebrated Heroes Day every year, but I’ve never had a celebration like this. Seeing my favourite artiste perform for the first time in my life. Nothing beats that. This is a Heroes Day that will stay in our memories for years to come,” she said.
