Hospitality operators in Manicaland are optimistic that the upcoming Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo will significantly boost tourism in the region, with expectations of increased visitor traffic and investment in the local sector.
The tourism exhibition, which runs from September 10 to 12 in Mutare, is being seen as a springboard to spotlight Nyanga’s offerings to both local and international markets.
Speaking ahead of the event, Tamarind Holiday and Conference Resort General Manager Takudzwa Mukwama said the Expo presents a valuable opportunity to position Nyanga as a prime tourism destination.

“We are hoping Sanganai/Hlanganani/Kumbanayi World Tourism Expo will help us to market our place more. As you are the media team here, we believe the word is already out there and the world will be well known all over the world,” she told told journalists in Nyanga on Monday.
Tamarind Resort, which opened in 2022 with 18 rooms, has experienced rapid growth, initially catering to school and church groups.

Due to rising demand, it has since expanded to 50 rooms and is currently building a 300-seater conference facility.
“We host school groups, church groups, conferences, and of course holidaymakers throughout the year,” said Mukwama.
“We are expanding and our goal is to create a full hospitality experience where visitors can stay, meet and explore.”
Industry players say the tourism expo organised by Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry and Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, the largest of its kind in Zimbabwe will not only increase visibility for Manicaland’s unique offerings but also promote collaboration across tourism value chains.
As the countdown to the Expo begins, hospitality operators are ramping up preparations to accommodate and impress visitors expected to throng the Eastern Highlands.
