All is set for the National Youth Service graduation ceremony to be held at Guyu Youth Training Centre in Gwanda.

Over 500 youths from all 10 provinces of Zimbabwe will graduate after completing a six-month training programme.

The mandate of the Youth Service Training is to nurture and instil a spirit of patriotism among the country’s youth. The programme aims to develop and enhance patriotism by promoting volunteerism, civic responsibility, and loyalty to the nation through national orientation training.

This training plays a pivotal role in shaping character and ensuring that young people contribute maximally to the nation’s development.

Guyu Youth Training Centre resumed youth training after nearly two decades, following its rehabilitation by the government. The centre now has 24 renovated hostel blocks accommodating up to 1,000 students.

Minister of State for Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Albert Nguluvhe, will preside over the graduation ceremony on behalf of Vice President Kembo Mohadi.

The grooming of responsible citizens remains a cornerstone of the nation’s development. The Second Republic has entrusted Youth Services in Zimbabwe with the task of spearheading the development of young people by revitalising Youth Service institutions across the country.

The mandate of Youth Services, under the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, is to mainstream youth participation in national development and equip them with technical and vocational skills for employment creation and self-sustenance.

The vision of the training programme is to cultivate a well-disciplined and well-cultured youth who embody Zimbabwean values and identity by 2030. Its mission is to develop patriotic, disciplined, responsible, and resilient youth equipped with relevant skills to meaningfully participate in nation building.
