RENOWNED women’s pool maestro, Flatter “Heavy” Moyo, has thrown a straight shot at the lack of sponsorship crippling the cue sport, especially for female players.
Speaking at the Queens International Pool Contest—a sizzling showdown that’s drawing sharp-shooters from across the globe—Moyo didn’t mince her words.
“We are doing our best to represent the country, but the support is just not there,” said Moyo, who is also a decorated national team player.
Despite her towering reputation and heavy hand with the cue, Moyo says the game feels like it’s stuck in the pocket—no cash, no recognition.
“We need serious sponsors to step in. Talent is there, passion is overflowing, but without support, we are stuck.”
The Queens tourney has proven that pool is no longer a bar-side pastime, but a serious sport with international muscle. Yet, Moyo and her fellow players continue to hustle for recognition and funding.
It’s high time corporate Zimbabwe chalked up and backed its champions!
