Dr Obert Moses Mpofu
POLITICS is big business the world over. It is through politics that we are able to meet our people’s needs.
Therefore, we need to take politics with the utmost seriousness it deserves, for it is a conduit through which we can deliver the nation’s prosperity.
The tragedy with most political parties is that they treat politics as an inconsequential thing.
The truth could not be further from this.
Failure to treat politics with the importance it deserves often results in utter failure and rejection of a political party by the masses.
This is why I advocate a business-like approach to practical politics.
There is no denying that practical politics is big business, with the people as the main investors and beneficiaries.
There is no other party that I know of that takes the business approach to politics like ZANU PF.
The ruling party’s political framework resembles a typical business model that has the purpose of driving our people’s agenda forward. This means party offices, both at the headquarters and across provinces, are run much like any other profitable and successful corporate entity.
This business-like approach has allowed ZANU PF to be the colossal party it is today, capable of interacting and meeting the needs of all its clientele, which are the electorate.
There can be no denying that ZANU PF is a party of the times.
It is open-minded, modern and has a keen interest in evolving at every turn to meet people’s needs. The greatest strength the party has lies in its ability to be relevant to the country’s cause.
It will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
ZANU PF will march with the people as we journey towards prosperity.
There are moments where progress will seem to be slow, but our resilience and sheer determination are what will push us forward in our quest to deliver for our people — and deliver we shall.
There is no way we will fail our people.
Despite the attacks we have endured for so long, we still stand and have been able to improve our economy and people’s lives.
Never in our nation’s history have we been able to develop infrastructure at a rate that we have since the dawn of the New Dispensation.
What we have been able to achieve is unprecedented, and it is all thanks to the capable leadership of His Excellency, President Cde Dr ED Mnangagwa.
We have changed the face of our nation in many ways.
We have also been able to achieve the impossible on the international scene through the engagement and re-engagement policy.
Our relations with the European Union and the United Kingdom are at an all-time high, and we are now recognised as one of the progressive nations on the continent.
Everyone now wants to interact with Zimbabwe and become part of our story as we move forward.
Indeed, progress has been made within a short period. Additionally, more progress lies ahead.
ZANU PF clearly means business.
We shall continue improving so that we can achieve the most desirable outcomes for our people.
We have indeed managed to emerge stronger after we had essentially been written off.
Our resilience resulted in us reinventing ourselves and channelling all our energy towards positive change, which has allowed our party to be in an even better position to serve our people.
One of the ways in which ZANU PF has ensured its relevance is through its professionalism.
The ruling party goes beyond mere sloganeering, unlike most political outfits.
Under the leadership of His Excellency, President Cde Dr ED Mnangagwa, the party has emerged as a leading corporate entity.
In addition, service and sacrifice have been at the centre of our approach to doing things.
We have sacrificed a lot for our nation as a party, and we will continue doing so whenever we are called upon to do so.
Any successful endeavour requires a great deal of sacrifice, and we will ensure that we thrive as an entity for the benefit of our people and nation.
As we continue serving our people, let us always remember that professionalism is the best way to do so.
Let us also remember that ZANU PF is a business like any other business that seeks to make profits for its shareholders, who are the people.
Our business model is premised on attaining the best quality of life for Zimbabweans.
Let us, therefore, embrace the corporate approach to political business.
