DONGO FC, the team which has literally personalised the Castle Lager Premiership basement position have acquired players from Mutare army outfit, Buffaloes on free loan and believe they will add value in their quest to secure another dance with the domestic top-flight league.
Dongo have concluded deals with players such as Buffaloes trio of goalie Farai Samunyai, striker Elliot Mingiri and centre back Kudzanai ‘Ibudu’ Mangondo.
They have also signed fringe Triangle and Caps United players, David Mubaiwa and striker, Keith Munetsi, respectively.
Dongo have since loaned Charles Kateguru to Redwing FC, while the duo of Shepherd Sithole and defender, Langton Chipunza joined Gweru City.
Former Mutare City Rovers star, Khumbulani ‘Jomo’ Njovo is not attached.
Dongo FC mentor, Shadreck Mugurasave, said that they would leave no stone unturned and fight relegation despite the fact that his side was rooted at the bottom of the log table.
Mugurasave was bullish that his charges would deliver.
“Now that we have some new signings, we have to work harder than we did in the first half of the season. We are not out yet and we are not really behind in terms of points. We expect good results as we face Harare City away in our next league match.
“I know we are rooted at the bottom of the log, but we are working so hard to correct our mistakes and we have to win and make sure we are safe. It is not going to be easy, we know, but we believe we are equal to the task,” said Mugurasave.
Dongo FC, like their fellow Manicaland side Buffaloes are already out of the Chibuku Cup and will now plunge into their 17th league match away against Harare City who also have their woes to deal with, needing a victory that will probably help them climb up the ladder.
Meanwhile, Dongo recently got a shot in the arm when a local entertainment joint, Desim Nite Club donated a set of tracksuits for the players and the technical team.
The olive branch could not come at a better time as Dongo Sawmills was the only premiership side that lacked a distinct identity and decent pre-match dressing.
Desim Nite Club has also undertaken to provide refreshments for the club for every victory at Vengere Stadium.
As the going gets tough and the club is courting suitors to come on board, no donation is too small for the struggling club.
The donation was aimed at motivating the club to evade the dreaded relegation chop.
