PROMISING film-maker, Nigel Lozane, is set to produce a wildlife conservation series titled ‘‘Zimbabwe in the Wild’’.
The 22-year-old, who studied film in India, runs his production company named Nigel Lozane Films, which is tipped to make an impression.
In an interview with H-Metro, Lozane said the series tackles anti-poaching.
“We are doing a conservation series called Zimbabwe in the Wild and it is mainly focused on wildlife conservation in Zimbabwe. We are going to be doing eight episodes of this series,” he said.
Lozane said the wildlife conversation series was the first to be produced in Zimbabwe.
“This is the first ever Zimbabwean project done by Zimbabweans, for Zimbabweans and directed by a Zimbabwean. I am going to be the one who will be directing the series. The series is something that has not been done yet in the conservation sector,” said Lozane.
He added: “The series focuses on anti-poaching solutions and aims at ensuring that wildlife is conserved.
“We want to make sure that we protect our natural heritage. Zimbabwe is home to a lot of wildlife so we want to make sure that all of them are protected.”
Lozane said he was humbled by the way people have been expressing their desire to be part of the project.
“There are different entities that we want to partner with and have shown a lot of interest.
“National Geographic Channel and Disney Plus said they want to be part of this project,” he told H-Metro.
This is, however, not the first project that Lozane has worked on.
“We had a previous project on rhino poaching.
“It won an award in the United States in 2021 at the Moment Invitational Film Festival.
“On this project, we worked with different safari brands.”
He conceded that he faced some challenges during the filming of the series.
“As a crew, we had to make sure that we comply with safety rules so that we are protected during the time we were filming.
“We could not afford any retakes so we had to make sure that we take the best shots with the time we had,” said Lozane.
