The Green Machine have lost five games on the trot and emotions are currently running high among their fans worried about possible relegation.
But in Mangwiro they have a coach who can stop the rot but he knows that time isn’t on his side and there will be pressure, after the defeat against Bosso on Saturday, for the new coaching regime to deliver.
Defender Douglas Walaza dismissed speculation, among some of the CAPS United fans, that the Green Machine has been cursed by some evil spirits.
“We have just been unlucky,” Walaza said. “I don’t believe in that.
“We are doing everything possible to try and win. We have been training, just like we used to do, and nothing much has changed.”
CAPS United, though, have recalled Shakespare Chinogwenya back to play a role in their technical team.
Shabanie host Motor Action at Maglas tomorrow with coach Luke Masomere bubbling with confidence ahead of the match.
“We are well prepared and we are ready for Motor Action.
“We lost 1-0 in our last match and it’s very common in football but i am happy it did not affect our position on the log because our nearest rivals struggled during the same period,” said Masomere.
Masomere said the miners are not focusing on winning the championship yet.
“We are not concentrating much on the Premiership, rather we are playing to finish in a better position.
“But if we manage to secure 12 points in our next four games, then we can gatecrash for the championship.
“The race is still wide open but the next four games are very crucial in the destiny of the championship.
“Against Motor Action we will play our usual game without putting ourselves under pressure and everyone in the team is aiming for maximum points.
“We will also be unleashing some of our players who have been on injuries like Philemon Mudenha and Nelson Maziwisa who was not fully fit when he played in the last game.
“We will, however, be missing the services of Bonface Dimanji, Gilford Muchiwa and Farai Mususunye who received knocks at training,” said Masomore.
After nearly nine months on the sidelines, veteran midfielder Desmond Maringwa makes a return to the Dynamos squad set to face Quelaton at Rufaro tomorrow.
The injury-prone Dynamos skipper was not registered for the first half of the season as he was yet to regain fitness but was added to the list when the mid-season transfer opened.
Maringwa, one of the most loyal players at Dynamos, was included in the final 18 after the technical team concluded their training session at Raylton Sports Club yesterday.
And the inspirational midfielder said he is now itching to kick the ball again.
“I was not playing but I was there in spirit with the team. At times I was helping the youngsters at training.
“Generally, I have been training whenever I got the chance and I was supporting the guys and talking to them.
“We are Dynamos sons and we will never abandon our home. I have always tired to do the best for the club and to motivate the youngsters to know the culture and spirit of the club,” said Maringwa.
Maringwa feels that his fitness has improved and is determined to repay the faith shown in him by the coaches.
“I have been training since March but sometimes I was not available because of other commitments.
“Right now my fitness level is coming back and its encouraging when the coaches select me into the final 18,” said Maringwa.
Maringwa, who is rated as one of the most intelligent players of his generation, however, warned his team-mates to avoid complacency when they meet relegation threatened Quelaton.
A veteran of many Premiership battles, Maringwa is well aware of the threat posed by the so-called small teams.
Last week, the Harare giants shared the spoils with struggling Blue Rangers who held them to a 1-1 draw at Rufaro.
“The coaches have always told the youngsters to be professional in their approach to the matches.
“The most difficult games are the ones against the minnows.
“It’s how we approach the game that matters and our players should not get carried away because we had beaten FC Platinum or CAPS United in the previous matches.
“We have to be serious and professional in every game,” Maringwa added.
Dynamos assistant coach Tonderai Ndiraya also shared the same sentiments with Maringwa that they will only underrate Quelaton at their own peril.
Ndiraya said the technical team blasted the players following their 1-1 draw against Blue Rangers last weekend.
“We dropped points last week and we need to pick up points this time.
“I know that we should not repeat the mistakes of last week when we failed to win.
“Our aim is to close the gap with Highlanders, so we have to pick up all the points,” said Ndiraya.
Ndiraya believes his troops paid dearly for underrating Blue Rangers last weekend.
“The guys were very complacent last week. During the week, we had a strong chat with them.
“We had beaten Rangers 6-0 in the first half of the season and the players thought that it would be easy again.
“But when they found out that Blue Rangers were also determined this time, they did not know what to do,” he said.
Quelaton lost 1-0 to Dynamos in the reverse match at BF with David Kutyauripo scoring the lone goal and the Bulawayo side have the potential to spoil the party for their more illustrious rivals.
“The last time we played Quelaton, they gave us a good run.
“So we should be expecting to see a change in attitude from our players on Sunday,” said Ndiraya. Dembare will be without Milton Makopa, Martin Vengesayi and Ocean Mushure. Central defender Patson Jaure is also out as he recovers from a groin injury.
All is not rosy at Quelaton where coach Philani Ncube and his assistant Farai Sibanda quit this week and veteran utility player Chipo Tsodzo has been called in to rescue the ship.
