A DISGRUNTLED Mutare woman last week dragged her ex-husband to court for failing to pay maintenance for their child.
Richard Chiedza (22) of House Number 459, McGregors, Sakubva was dragged to court by Polite Ruwizhi (23) of House Number 9, Chineta, Sakubva.
He owed $90.
Chiedza appeared before senior Mutare magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura for Contravening Section 23 of the Maintenance Act, Chapter 5:09: (Failure to pay maintenance).
Mr Fletcher Karombe prosecuted.
He told the court that Chiedza was ordered by the court to pay $30 for his child upkeep on January 17, but had failed to do so.
“Chiedza defaulted to pay up the arrears from February 2016,” said Mr Karombe.
Mrs Chiundura ordered Chiedza to go out and work hard and raise the $90 before September 2. Failure to do so would leave the magistrate with no option but to send him behind the bars. He was also urged to continue paying the $30 monthly maintenance.
