Masvingo police spokesperson Inspector Tinaye Matake confirmed the incident that happened last week and identified the victim as Ms Linda Gumbo from Mashava.
Insp Matake said on 26 February 2012, at about 3pm, Ms Gumbo was at a bus stop waiting for a lift to Masvingo city when she got into a private vehicle (model unknown) that had three people on board, two men and a woman.
Just before settling, the woman alleged that she mysteriously lost consciousness only to recover after two days, on 28 February, when she found that she had been dumped at a bush near Mushangashe Vocational Training Centre, about 60km along Masvingo-Harare highway.
He said the woman who is thought to have been drugged by the unknown robbers and discovered that she had lost her all belongings that included a Nokia handset, $25 and a bag containing her clothes.
Insp Matake said investigations were under way and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
“We have not made any arrest so far but investigations are in progress. The woman who we suspect could have been drugged is in a stable condition,” said Insp Matake.
Meanwhile, police are investigating a case in which a 20-year-old man from Bikita committed suicide after he was accused of stealing a goat.
Insp Matake confirmed having received a report of a suicide case involving Alife Chirayi of Village 3, Devure Resettlement.
He said the incident happened on 27 February 2012 at 8am when Chirayi was found hanging from a tree by his father, Simon.
On 26 February, Chirayi allegedly went to Manyuchi Village to collect his money from one Mr Luckmore Mufundirwa (22) where he met some people who accused him of having stolen a goat.
Insp Matake said he did not take the accusations lightly but never told anyone about it.
Chirayi returned home in the evening and found supper ready. It is alleged that he took his supper before leaving the kitchen hut under the pretext that he was retiring to bed but decided to take his own life by hanging himself from a tree.
His father Simon found his body on 27 February, hanging from the tree and a report was made to the police.
