A 20-year-old Sakubva woman was last week fined $200 for shoplifting.
Getrude Sagora appeared before Mrs Annie Ndiraya facing theft charges.
For the State, Mr Shepherd Chavarika told the court that the crime was committed on May 19,2015.
The accused got into Mutare TM supermarket in the afternoon and attempted to steal some food stuffs.
Security guards manning the shop got suspicious of her movements before searching her.
She was found in possession of an assortment of groceries which included Chimombe Milk, six eggs and margarine.
She had stashed the loot on her back where she was carrying her baby.
Sagora pleaded guilty to the charges and asked for leniency saying she stole because of poverty.
“I admit to the charges, but I did it for the survival of my family. I am struggling to make ends meet so I resorted to stealing to make a living,” she said.
