Woman kidnapped at gunpoint

The woman, who was alone when the incident occurred in Borrowdale, later escaped after being driven to Bindura.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector James Sabau yesterday confirmed the incident and said investigations were underway.
He said the woman was approached by the assailant who duped her into believing that there was a place where she could obtain affordable school uniforms.
The woman boarded the suspect’s Toyota Prado and on the way to “buy cheap uniforms”, she tried to call someone but the man produced a pistol. He ordered her to comply with his orders.
“The assailant drove to Bindura and according to reports made, it is alleged that he phoned his other colleagues saying he now had a ‘client’ that they wanted,” Insp Sabau said.
The vehicle was parked in Bindura before the man got out, locking the woman inside. He went to a certain place and the woman took advantage of his absence to unlock the doors and escape.
A report was made to the police who tried to locate the suspects but failed. Insp Sabau yesterday said investigations were in progress.
