A 31-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday for beating her baby to death.

She bashed the toddler for disturbing her sleep with her husband.

Alice Ncube reportedly struck her three-month-old daughter with a cooking stick, several times on the head, until she passed away at Village 3A, Deli, in Insuza. National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said Alice was facing a case of infanticide. Meanwhile, police in Zaka were appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of George Machinga (38), who is being sought in connection with a murder case.

“George was reported to have head-butted Peter Mugorogogodi on November 4 at Mahofisi Business Centre in Zaka. He died on November 19 on admission to Masvingo Provincial Hospital. The suspect had accused the victim of having an affair with his wife.

“Anyone with information to report at any nearest police station,” said Asst-Comm Nyathi.
