Woman nabbed for possessing medicines consignment

A 43-YEAR-OLD woman was arrested on Monday at her residence in Wengezi after detectives found a consignment of various medical substances and medicines.

 

When asked to produce a licence or permit authorising her to possess or deal in such medicines, the suspect, Lulu Madumeyana, was unable to do so.

This led to her arrest and the recovery of the medicines and substances.

Acting Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident, which occurred in Mukono Village, Chief Mutambara’s area.

He said Madumeyana is set to appear in court, charged with contravening Section 18 (1) (3) of the Medicines and Allied Substances Complementary (General) Regulations – Statutory Instrument 97/2015, and contravening Section 29 (1) (a) as read with Section 29 (1A) of the Medicines and Allied Substances Control Act (Chapter 15:03).

“On March 24 2025 at around 2pm, detectives received information that the accused person was in possession of various medical substances and medicines. Acting on the information, they proceeded to the supplied address, identified themselves to the accused and stated their mission, where upon searching the suspect’s bedroom they discovered medicines and substances such as several blisters of Flugripp, Ibuprofen, Control, Compound Magnesium, Metronidazole 400mg, 30 talatin hip enlargement tablets; 250 ml X 3 CT Plus lightening cream and Betasol cream, among others,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
