Two Bulawayo drum wizards Sifiso (8) and Sibusiso Ndlovu (10) are on the verge of making a dream trip to Hollywood where they will represent the country at World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Los Angeles, United States.
The two brothers are set to be part of the Zimbabwean team that will take part in this yeara��s championships between June 30 and 9 July in Hollywood.
WCOPA, sometimes referred to as the a�?Olympics of the Performing Artsa�?, sees competitors of every age judged in acting, singing, dancing, modelling, instrumentalists, and a variety of other categories.
The two boys, who now seek sponsorship to make their dream come true, are students of Drums of Peace, where they started honing their skills at a very young age.
a�?The two Drum Boys started drumming at a very tender age.A� Sibusiso, the older one, showed interest when he was about three years old and I was forced to make him a drum and at four he started performing with us. Sifiso showed interest at an earlier stage and he grasps the concept fast and is a natural drummer,a�? said Lewis Ndlovu, the father of the two boys and leader of Drums of Peace.
a�?I remember Sifiso used to cry for his brother when he was going to pre-school back when he was only a year and nine months old. We ended up enrolling him in school too,a�? he said.
Besides their own drumming, the boys are also teaching their age mates how to play drums at the Khanyisa Isibane Drumming School.
