Young Igwe dates Mutare

HEIR to Utakataka Express throne Peter “Dhewa” Moyo has promised to present new songs to his legion of Mutare fans when he performs at popular entertainment hub Pick and Save Supperrette tonight (Friday).
Also known as Young Igwe, the youthful musician in an interview with The Weekender said his rejuvenated group was now a team of achievers who are dynamic and multi-talented.

He said fans should look forward to hearing new songs such as Rudo Pasina.

“Anyone at Utakataka Express can play any guitar. I am happy with that development and I believe this will take us far. At Pick and Save, we will show our fans how we have improved as a band. I am also happy that I can now play 97 percent of the songs that my dad composed. That is a development to the group and I am happy,” he said.

He shed more light on the new song.

“On the song Rudo Pasina, I advise people to be careful when choosing their life partners. They should be wary of people who pretend to be full of love while in fact they reflect the opposite of who they are. I sing, vakawanda vachakupfimba dhiya wanguwe, asi rudo pasina…,” he added.

Instrumentalists Dickson “Mwanazambe” Mamvure, Evidence “Jahwi” Tarabuku, Guyson Sixpence, Spenser Khumulani and dancer Yamathele are among the key band members of the Kwekwe-based sungura outfit.

The show organisers said the event starts at 8pm.

The organisers said Jah Prayzah and Botswana-based musician Chama Girl will perform at the same venue on October 4. Chama Girl features on the talented musician’s hit song Dalie wangu.
