Young Students take control

HERENTALS Under-20 are now four points clear at the summit of the ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League following a 1-0 victory over Ngezi Under-19.

Paul Benza’s troops are now getting into the zone they were once in, especially in the early stages of the campaign.

The Young Students are calling the shots with 46 points and Simba Bhora and Golden Eagles are both tied on 42 points.

Gilbert Mushangazhike’s Eagles rediscovered their winning formula as they eased past a resilient Black Mambas side 1-0, at Ellis Robins.

Chegutu Pirates coach, Richard Chunga, is proving beyond doubt to be the main man in the league.

Despite his team facing serious financial challenges, they continue to punch want above their weight.

His troops are the first side to beat Simba Bhora at Wadzanai.

No team had managed to salvage even a draw.

However, the Ancestors changed all that with a stunning 1-0 win on Saturday.

Pirates were also the first team to stop the 12-game unbeaten run of Herentals in the first round of the season.

The victory also earned them a top four place, they have so far amassed 34 points.

Stewart “Shutto” Murisa registered his first victory in charge of Banket United with a 1-0 win against Trojan.

It was his fourth attempt since he joined the club during the mid-season break.

CUMA Academy shared the spoils in a goalless stalemate against Chinhoyi Stars.

It means they have now gone for five games without a victory.

Commando Bullets came back from the mid-season break without the same energy they exhibited in the first round.

The army side drew 2-2 against Pam FC and they are slowly disappearing from the title race.

Levison Solus’s Karoi United edged Come Again 2-1 at Chikangwe.
