Zahara exicted about Zimbabwe shows

South African songstress Zahara, billed to perform at 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale on Friday, says her Zimbabwean shows have been exciting.The musician has performed in tZimbabwe before and says she is ready to give her fans here a good Christmas present.

“I am glad to perform in Zimbabwe again just before Christmas. This will be a Christmas present for my fans in Zimbabwe,” said Zahara in an interview with The Herald Entertainment last week.

“I will be launching my new album in the country and I have something special for my fans. It is exciting to perform in the country once again and I would like to thank promoters that have shown confidence in working with me here.”

Promoters of the show said they had decided to bring back Zahara because she has done well in the country.  Zahara will share the stage with Oliver Mtukudzi and Tariro NeGitare.

Zahara released her debut album Loliwe in 2011. It went Platinum in 13 days and double platinum after just 17 days, selling over 100,000 copies in South Africa.

The music video for her debut single, “Loliwe”, has eclipsed the 1.3 million views on YouTube.  In May 2012, at the annual South African Music Awards, Zahara won eight awards, including “Best Female Artist” and “Album of the Year”.

Her music is classified loosely as “Afrosoul” and she sings in her native language, Xhosa, as well as in English.
