HISTORY has oftentimes been described as a progression of class struggle. Meaning, humans in their different categories will endeavour and labour to attain their desires.
Such an exercise is far from being a simple one. There is often insurmountable turmoil and toil in pursuing the human desire in order to improve the human condition.
We, as Zimbabweans, did toil and we paid our equal share in that endeavour. We have laboured through colonialism and through the hardships of sanctions to create a new class of prosperous and enterprising Zimbabweans. Such a situation has been born from the conviction held by Zanu-PF.
The battle for survival and taking the nation forward involves more than just political rhetoric. There must be a conduit for delivering the fruits of political freedom. These fruits of political freedom are best distributed through improving the economic welfare of our people. Zanu-PF has strived to ensure that the economic aspirations of our people are turned into reality. We have deliberately set the path of our nation towards turning our economy into a massive avenue for the benefit of our people.
Zanu-PF has created a new class of successful Zimbabweans. The colossal Zanu-PF party has made conditions in the country appropriate for the ordinary black Zimbabwean to amass immeasurable wealth. This is unprecedented and has never been seen before.
The new economic class of wealthy young people in Zimbabwe is a result of the empowerment drive that the Party has been deliberately pursuing over the years.
We have truly achieved the impossible. Through affirmative action, our people are now truly empowered. Everything that our people possess, they own it fully, they do not have any debt whatsoever. I do believe that this is the only economy of such a nature in the world.
Political freedom without economic emancipation means very little. After the attainment of political freedom, the obvious next step is to ensure that our people are emancipated from poverty. This is easier said than done. We have tinkered with so many formulas to achieve that endeavour, some very successful and with brilliant results, and some, not so much. As expected, nothing worthwhile is ever an easy task; there will be ups and downs. We have had our fair share of ups and we have had our fair share of downs.
The results are, however, for all to see as we have witnessed this current state of our nation where we have achieved the seemingly impossible. We were once castigated and isolated for all our efforts towards uplifting our people. Not many people from outside had the foresight of what we were attempting to achieve.
They thought it was sheer madness that we drove out the colonisers and took back our land. In hindsight, this is perhaps the second most important act in our history, with freeing the country from the jaws of colonialism being the first.
There is no denying that the wealth created by Zanu-PF is for the Zimbabwean people and they are the ones who must enjoy the benefits of all the toil. Zanu-PF will not shy away from pursuing the people’s agenda and guaranteeing their success through economic emancipation.
Our colonisers never wanted us to gain and utilise the wealth from the land. They made it a point to subdue any of our economic emancipation. But through great sacrifice we endured.
The beauty about Zimbabwe is that we have always shown promise and resilience even in the face of adversity. We are on our way to the top and there is no denying it. We are in such a positive position such that the IMF has projected six percent economic growth for Zimbabwe in 2025, driven by a recovery in agriculture due to better climate conditions and higher commodity prices, particularly for gold, which would improve the current account. This is all a result of the deliberate policies that we have engineered to push our nation forward, through empowering our people. Our economy is now in the hands of the black majority, just as those who sought to liberate our country envisioned. We have lived true to that vision.
