Zanu-PF delegate dies in car crash

A ZANU-PF delegate to the just- ended annual national people’s conference in Victoria Falls died while five others are battling for life at Mpilo Central Hospital after a Mercedes Benz they were travelling in overturned and rolled several times along the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road.

The accident occurred at Insuza on Sunday at about 3pm as the delegates were returning home.

Matabeleland North police spokesperson, Inspector Siphiwe Makonese, confirmed the accident.

She said all the people in the vehicle were from Chitungwiza.

“I can confirm receiving a report on Sunday of an accident at Insuza, which killed one of the passengers while the rest are admitted and receiving treatment at Mpilo Hospital.

“Nomore Tarugurira, 26, died upon admission at Mpilo Hospital. He was a district Youth secretary in Chitungwiza,” she said.

Insp Makonese said Ladislous Tarugurira who is a district youth chairman, also in Chitungwiza, was driving the vehicle.

“The driver, on approaching the 50km peg where the road is uneven, lost control of the vehicle which then veered off the road,overturned and rolled several times,” she said.
