Zanu-PF represents the future

ZANU-PF as a party is an embodiment of the past. It is a reflection of victories that this great nation achieved under difficult circumstances. The party gives an insight into today’s great transformation which has seen the country being an economic giant it aspires to be and indeed Zanu-PF is a testimony of what the future should be as it is a repository of what tomorrow holds.

The recent events in the party where the so-called factional fights took centre stage represent a regeneration of this mighty institution which will ultimately emerge as a beacon of hope for the nation.

It is normal for siblings from the same family to view issues differently, but since they share the same umbilical cord, they will remain united in their quest to develop their household, in this case Zimbabwe.

It is natural to hold varied and sometimes divergent viewpoints on same issues, a key tenet of democracy which should be eternally upheld.

It is the manner and tact to resolve such diametrically opposed views which matters.

The maturity with which Zanu-PF has dealt with fissures and anomalies in its ranks speaks volumes of its entrenched capacity which will indeed enable it to march into the future oozing with confidence.

Some have the temerity to say, as Dolly Parton sang, that tomorrow is indeed forever.

As much as the Republicans and Democrats have stood the test of time in the United States of America, even in Britain, the Labour Party and the Conservatives have had a significant impact on the political landscape of those countries, Zanu-PF has now transformed into a force which will eternally change the political landscape of Zimbabwe and beyond.

It is a party for the future.

It gets sad when the party, the revolutionary rock on which the people’s wishes are founded, loses cadres as what happened on November 8 when Cde Simbarashe Chizema, a firm cadre and a resolute figure in the activities of the party in Nyanga, perished in a horrific car accident at the 20km peg along the Mutare-Nyanga road.

The accident left Nyanga Rural District Council chairman Councillor Moses Gutu seriously injured.

Cde Chizema epitomised the youthful cadre who toiled for the party, the ideal foot-soldier who was a burden bearer for the party, a true son of the soil.

Such characters in the mould of Cde Simbarashe Chizema made the revolutionary journey look so simple.

The energy the young cadre had in his pursuit of the party’s ideals will forever be cherished by those in Nyanga and indeed any party functionary who interacted with him.

As Cde Chizema’s body was lowered into his final resting place in the serene rural environs of Mafuratidze, in Gutu, the path which this energetic cadre traded will forever be the living footprints which posterity will have to desire to follow.

The future in the party finds expression in the contents of the economic blueprint, the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (Zim-Asset), whose present and futuristic conceptualisation of the economic realities which the country has to overcome for it to be an economic powerhouse are overtly laid out.

It is the reconfiguration of the infrastructure today that will change the economic landscape of tomorrow, in essence the society’s attitude and effort today will have far-reaching repercussions tomorrow.

The ongoing rehabilitation of roads and construction of houses will ensure the economic activities of households and their comfort and security are guaranteed.

These are the prerequisites of economic growth.

In the telecommunications sector, the Zanu-PF-led government is spearheading the compliance with international practices which exhort all national broadcasters to be digitalised by the year 2015.

The implications of a digital era are enormous benefits to the populace.

Numerous stations will emerge which will give rise to diverse opinions which are the breeding ground for growth and all television-signal areas hitherto unreachable will be accessible.

The whole nation will now be in unison in the implementation of projects which are of a national character as information will spread quickly and positively affect the desired outcomes.

The net effect of our present activities will have ramifications for the future.

It is only when noble ideas as espoused by the national economic blueprint, Zim-Asset, are implemented that we can begin to secure the future of the nation.

Zanu-PF possesses all the attributes to carry this nation into the future.

It has the structural stamina and the leadership which has withstood the test of time. In President Mugabe, the party has a visionary par excellence. His lieutenants are tried and tested.

Some have a lengthy illustrious history in the liberation struggle while some have exceptional skills in their areas of specialisation.

It is therefore the only party which has the experience and the history to take this nation to another level of growth in its multifaceted manner.

The people’s party has an incredible youth base which has potential to take the institution to greater heights, the beginning point being their gradual assimilation into the party structures as is happening now. With such a robust and formidable historical significance, Zanu-PF is the party of today and ultimately the future.
