Zanu-PF retains Makoni Ward 17

ZANU-PF on Monday retained the Makoni Rural District Council Ward 17 seat uncontested. The seat fell vacant following the death of Cde Samuel Bakare who died last year in a car crash and was declared a liberation war hero.
Zanu-PF candidate, Cde James Sanyangore, was declared the duly elected councillor at the close of the Nomination Court.

However, the Nomination Court had its fair share of drama as the party’s initial candidate, who won the hotly contested primary election, Cde Takura Mavera, was disqualified as it was discovered that he is not a registered voter in this country.

Provincial youth executive members, Cdes Taurai Chiripamberi and Tawanda Tswtswa had to drive for over 35km to fetch Cde Sanyangore who came second in the primary elections.
