ZANU-PF Midlands Province will today decide the fate of suspended party members who have submitted their CVs ahead of the primary elections after the National Disciplinary Committee delayed in deliberating on their suspensions.

Those that have submitted their CVs include, Cdes Chiratidzo Mabuwa, Francis Nhema, Tafanana Zhou and Masango Matambanadzo.

Cde Jason Machaya, whose case was not heard and is not on suspension, has also submitted his CV for Gokwe Senatorial seat while former Minister of State in the President’s Office, Cde Flora Buka is also set to bounce back after submitting her CV for Gokwe-Nembudziya constituency.

Cde Buka was cleared of wrong doing after she was implicated in the Gamatox shenanigans.

Midlands provincial chairman, Cde Daniel Mackenzie Ncube said the provincial executive and the election directorate will today deliberate the fate of the suspended members who have submitted their CVs.

“I can confirm that Cdes Chiratidzo Mabuwa, Francis Nhema, Tafanana Zhou and Masango Matambanadzo who were recommended for suspension, submitted their CVs.

“We are going to do the vetting on who qualifies and who doesn’t based on the guidelines that we were given. However, we are only going to recommend and the national election directorate will have the final say,” he said.

According to Zanu-PF constitution anyone serving a suspension is not eligible to participate in the primary elections or any other election during the time of their suspension.

The candidates are each serving three-year suspensions.

The province is expected to start vetting aspiring candidates tomorrow before sending its recommendations to the national election directorate amid reports that some constituencies have more than six aspiring Members of Parliament.

There was an overwhelming number of aspiring MPs this time around.

“There is a lot of excitement. It’s going to be a fierce contest this time around because there has been an overwhelming response. People are excited about this new dispensation and everyone wants to be part of it,” said Cde Ncube.

He said in some cases as many as six candidates want to contest in one constituency and even party stalwarts in the province were being contested.

“If you look at constituencies in Gokwe and Zvishavane you will find more than six CVs were being received for one constituency. We also have youths in our ranks who have submitted their CVs” he said.

Cde Ncube said in Zvishavane Ngezi Constituency, six candidates have submitted their CVs.

“We have that of Cde Lewis Mathuthu, Cde John Holder, Cde Dumezweni Mpofu and three others.

“In Zvishavane senator, Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi will face Cde Larry Mavima,” he said.

In Vungu, sitting MP Cde Josephat Madubeko will tussle it out with six others.
