Zanu-PF to the rescue

The party raised US$460 for Sam Gotosa (25), a Bachelor of Arts student at the Great Zimbabwe University.

Gotosa, of Masvingo’s Mucheke suburb whose father is late and stays with his unemployed mother, made a plea for assistance to Zanu-PF national political commissar Cde Webster Shamu who was attending a Zanu-PF provincial co-ordinating committee meeting in Masvingo.

He told Cde Shamu that he needed US$400 to pay fees so that he could be allowed to sit for his examinations.
Calling on Zanu-PF members to assist Gotosa, Cde Shamu said it was important for party cadres in Masvingo to help underprivileged members of the community, especially the youths who are the mainstay of Zimbabwe’s future.

Zanu-PF Politburo member Cde Dzikamai Mavhaire then led party members in donating cash to Gotosa after he pledged US$150 while another Politburo member Cde Kudakwashe Bhasikiti weighed in with US$100.

Other party members made cash contributions ranging from US$20 to US$50 until Gotosa made off with US$460 cash.
Higher and Tertiary Education Minister Stan Mudenge told Gotora to keep the cash as he would access fees under the Government’s cadetship programme.

Gotosa said he was touched by the kind gesture from the party.
