Journalist Chigodo’s burial today

The Zimbabwe Union of Journalists described Chigodo’s death as yet another sad chapter in the media industry.

“We have been robbed of a dedicated cadre whose wealth of experience in the field was of great value to the younger crop of journalists,” ZUJ said.
It said Chigodo leaves behind a legacy of professionalism, hard work, factual and ethical reporting.

“This resulted in him being elevated to various editorial positions at the Zimbabwe Newspapers stable.
“We shall always remember him as a father figure and colleague.”

Chigodo is survived by his wife and five children.
His death brings to seven, the number of veteran journalists who have passed on this year.

Bornwell Chakaodza, Freedom Moyo, Makuwerere Bwititi, King Dube, Salatiel Mutasa and Orirando Manwere are among veteran practitioners who died in what is becoming one of the darkest years for the media industry.
