ZAS adopts new livestock sales format

which will be sold by a Forrester representative and 40 head from Mukono (Mukono represents a number of breeders) which will be sold by RLMS, a company specialising in Remote Livestock Marketing.
These cattle will be on the Internet and potential buyers can bid through the Internet or live at the Show.
The sale will commence on Friday  August 17-24.
The idea is to allow potential
buyers to:
(a) Negotiate the price
(b) Arrange payment, etc, before the closure of the sale,
(c) There is no pressure on a buyer as there is at a live auction,
(d) Cattle will be permitted to leave on Sunday the 26th and all veterinary requirements must be arranged by the buyer (cattle movement permits, etc).
The sellers will pay ZAS a commission whether it is through RLMS or Forrester.
The “spin” on this is that ZAS is encouraging livestock producers to sell breeding stock towards improving the national herd and giving the potential buyers an opportunity to acquire quality cattle at a reasonable price.
