THE Zimbabwe Defence Forces is not moved by sanctions and would remain steadfast in the fight against the vices of neo-colonialism. Speaking during the combined graduation of seven logistics courses at Imbizo Barracks, Administrator of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Benefit Fund, Colonel Richard Mathambo, said the army was determined to carry out its mandate despite the illegal economic sanctions imposed by the West.

“Our beloved country is still under economic sanctions from the West which negatively affect the operations of the army. The army however has an obligation to safeguard the country’s constitution and its territorial integrity against any forms of aggression despite these sanctions. Our duty is to jealously guard and protect the gains of our liberation struggle,” said Col Mathambo.

He said as the nation remembers and honours the fallen heroes next month, it was time to reflect on the gains of independence that the gallant sons and daughters sacrificed their lives for.

“I want to urge the nation to remain steadfast and create an enabling environment for the successful implementation of Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-economic Transformation (Zim-Asset),” he said.

A total of 143 students graduated from various courses at the Ordinance and Transport Training School.
