ZIFA APPEALS COMMITTEE DEFENDS NRSL DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE

Sports Reporter

THE full ruling of the ZIFA Appeals Committee, dismissing Karoi United’s appeal against the decision by the Northern Region Soccer league disciplinary committee to award Scottland three points from their abandoned game, was released yesterday.

There had been speculation that the judgment was not being released because some of the committee’s members had disowned it.

However, the judgment shows that all the members agreed to the verdict.

The committee said no evidence was placed before them to justify their interference with the penalty imposed by the disciplinary committee.

“The Appeals Committee has not made any finding that is so outrageous or defies logic in the conclusion reached by the disciplinary committee.

“The factual findings of the disciplinary committee are founded on evidence of witnesses. The penalty is based on the rules and precedent.”
