Zifa lawyer Maganga under probe

Augustine Hwata Harare Bureau
ZIFA legal advisor Ralph Maganga has been placed under an investigation by the Law Society of Zimbabwe over the way his firm has been conducting its business.Sources yesterday said Maganga was being investigated over matters to do with the way he handled some funds.

At the centre of the probe is how Maganga handled a transaction of $38,000 that was held in trust.

“One of the issues is to do with the way he dealt with conveyance transactions, where he could have delayed,” said the source.

However, Maganga remains free to offer his professional services while the investigations are in progress.

In the past, the Zifa lawyer has enlisted the services of Ephraim Ndlovu from Mabhundu Law Chambers .

The practice is owned by Pepukai Mabhundu.

“He has not been suspended.  His certificate remains valid and it’s just that there is this investigation over his conduct,” said the source.

Maganga yesterday professed ignorance on the probe over his firm.

“I am not aware of any investigations. Maybe if they (Law Society of Zimbabwe) are investigating, they would probably want to keep it low.

“Maybe, I will get to know of it when they make the findings,” said Maganga.

Maganga has over the last eight years been representing Zifa.

He is owed a substantial amount for his services by Zifa where he also sits in the board meetings.
