BULAWAYO Motoring Club (BMC) racing action continues tomorrow with another national series competition at the Victoria Falls Road Circuit. The event, sponsored by Autoworld Bulawayo, Anderson Motors, Auto Quip, Colourworld, L & L Mining and Shield Security will have its first click of the ignition keys at 9AM featuring an assorted number of national cars, motor cycles (Mageli and Superbikes) which will participate in a 14-race challenge.
Drivers and riders will be left with little room for error as competitors and teams will be on the edge to gain the best positions of the day, chasing vital points which will be carried on to the national and club championships at end of the year.
BMC vice-chairman Zane Shah said all is set for the one-day event and the public should brace themselves for fun.
“All is in place for the event. The winners will be given certificates and personalised trophies for the top three in each category. Fans should come in their numbers to witness the best drivers and bikers in Bulawayo compete,” he said.
The racing programme is expected to feature drivers and bikers from the capital and Bulawayo.
“BMC is expecting a good turnout of certified and experienced race drivers and riders,” said Shah.
He said tomorrow would be a fun-filled day for the whole family.
In the car races category, Harare-based Cole Bonds, the Cameron family of son John and father Brett in their open Lotus, the Shield Toyota driven by Ian Howden and Rowan Whyte in his Subaru will be up against Bulawayo lads Angelo Tavares in his Subaru, Phillip Minaar Jnr in his BMW, Denzel Bhana in a Ford Escort, Darren Pragji in his trusted Datsun, Julian Van Vuurens steering a Honda Ballade, Dean Normans 1.8lt turbo Golf and Shah are expected to give fans an afternoon’s good worth of entertainment on the course.
In the bike section, Phil Arcinold and Gavin Randall, Tiffany Fisher from Harare are expected to showcase their spectacular riding skills while bidding to stay at the top of the standings.
Ian Gutherless remains among the favourites.
According to Shah, there would be a knockout race which would be the last activity of the day to decide the knockout champion and the race will see all the cars competing against each other starting with the slowest until there is only one car left.
