Nominations for the Zifa women football elections officially opened on Wednesday, ahead of the November 19 polls to usher a new women football leadership.
Since the ouster of Miriam Sibanda as the chairlady early last year, women football has been running without a substantive leadership, despite the Mighty Warriors qualifying for the Rio Olympics as well as the Africa Women Cup of Nations during that period.
But on November 19 a new executive will be elected to run the affairs of women football in Zimbabwe.
So far no candidate has come out in the open, expressing interest to run for the high office but, Sibanda is believed to be lining up her candidature following the recent lifting of her suspension from football.
Grounds for the new elections is now being set by the Zifa Electoral Committee, led by retired judged Sello Nare.
a?The (Zifa Electoral) Committee crafted a roadmap in accordance with the dictates of the Zifa electoral code. The opening day of nomination is 19 October 2016 and the closing date is the 2nd of November 2016,a? Nare said in a statement.
a?Vetting of the nominees will be conducted on the 5th of November and the appeals window will be open between 6 and 9 November. A final list of successful candidates will be published on the 14th of November and the elections will be held on 19 November at a venue to be advised in due course.a?
