ZIM CYBER CITY TAKES ITS FIRST BIG STEPS

WORK has started on the first phase of the Zim Cyber City in Mount Hampden, with the initial stage set to be completed in 15 months, in a mega project that is set to transform the face of the country.

The first phase is set to have 50 villas and two homes as well as a dedicated area of duty free shopping and restaurants.

A 7 500 m2 waterbody is also set to be part of the initial phase of the project.

A visit by H-Metro at the site yesterday showed that work has started and the platform, for one of the biggest real estate projects in this country in recent years, was being laid.

The Zim Cyber City is being developed by Mulk International owned by Dubai-based billionaire, Mr Shaji Ul Mulk.

It is the first real estate investment in Zimbabwe channelled through the Zimbabwe Global Investments (ZGI) Special Economic Zone (SEZ) programme, approved by President Mnangagwa and awarded through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and Investment Promotion.

“The real work starts now and as you can see, heavy equipment is already on the ground to start civil works,” said ZGI chief executive, Ms Tendayi Hlupo-Mamvura.

“We are excited with the project especially given that there will be a new city in this Mt Hampden area and Zim Cyber City has started the ball rolling. The added advantage is that Government has also started upgrading the major roads to the new city and Parliament, and also the road to Charles Prince Airport.  From now on, it’s all systems go. Our sales office is also busy and obviously those interested can do so quickly as the villas are selling quickly,” she said. — Herald Reporter/H-Metro Reporter
