THE dates for the premier golf tournament in the country, The Zimbabwe Open, have been confirmed and the tourney will run from April 15-22 at Royal Harare. The Zimbabwe Open was initially scheduled for the Easter Holidays but there has been a change in the dates as confirmed by the Zambezi Tour communications manager Tendai Gwatiringa.

The annual tournament will see several international professionals turning up.

“I can confirm that the Zimbabwe Open is on from April 15 to 22 at Royal Harare. We have done everything and all is going according to plan.

“The sponsors were engaged and they confirmed they will come on board and we expect to have another exciting edition of the Zimbabwe Open,” said Gwatiringa.

Last year, integrated financial services provider Old Mutual, supported by Delta Beverages, ZOL Zimbabwe, Tongaat Hullets and Sahwira Events Management united to sponsor the prestigious tournament.

Old Mutual, through their subsidiary, CABS, sponsored the tournament from 1995-2001.

The tournament was sponsored to the turn of R1,8 million.

The annual event will be in its eighth year running after its return to the Sunshine Tour in 2010 after a decade off the radar.
