artistes from various churches around the country and to set up a Zim Praise choir, comprising 40 members from each city.
In addition to that it will also establish counselling sessions, prayers and motivational speakers in all cities and currently has visited 10 schools and homes of the vulnerable.
Prominent music producer Mr Joseph Madziyire, who is part of the event, said the auditions would be held in various cities in the next two months.
“The auditions will be held in April starting with Harare — HICC on the 7th, followed by Mutare — Queens Hall on the 14th, then Gweru (Midlands Hotel) on the 21st and lastly Bulawayo (Rainbow Hotel or City Hall) on the 28th.
“We have noted that there is a great deal of talent which remains hidden due to lack of a platform to showcase,” said Madziyire.
He also said that the auditions were meant to identify 30 super vocalists that will be part of the team to participate on the live DVD launch.
“An entry criterion that has a return to the sponsors shall be used for one to qualify for the auditions.
“They are going to be done within a day’s work, advertised at least a month before the date and filmed for broadcasting in a reality show that will be screened on ZTV,” said Madziyire.
Madziyire also confirmed that the show will not only identify great talent, but also sound characteristic of true Zimbabwean.
However, financial hardships have derailed the completion of the project. “We are appealing for help from various stakeholders so that we can be able to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe,” he said.
Zim Praise did its first project an audio CD in 2007 codenamed “Zim Praise Season 1”. 2008 saw the launch of yet another audio CD dubbed “Zim Praise Season 2”.
Season 3 was a live DVD recorded at the 7 Arts Theatre in July last year.
